Articles of Faith

We believe in one living and true God, who is the Creator and Preserver of all things, infinite in being and perfection, eternally existing in the three Persons of the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit.

We believe that all Scripture is inspired by God and is therefore to be received as his infallible and inerrant written Word, trustworthy and true in all that it teaches, and invested with his authority for Christian faith and life.

We believe that Jesus Christ is truly God and truly human; that he was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary; that he lived a life of perfect obedience to God; that he died in the place of sinners who deserve that death, bearing the full punishment for their sins in order to reconcile them to God; that he rose bodily from the grave; that he ascended into heaven where he intercedes for his people and rules as Lord of all creation; and that he will return to the earth, personally and visibly, to consummate his sovereign rule and work of redemption.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the promised Comforter sent by the Father and the Son, possessing full personality and deity. We believe that He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment; that He is the agent of new birth at which time He baptizes believers into the body of Christ; and that He is for the believer the agent of sealing, indwelling, filling, guiding, and teaching.

We believe that human beings are created in the image of God for fellowship with God; that through rebellion against the Creator they fell from a sinless state into a state of sin, death and estrangement from God; that the entire human race is born into this state of sin and death, sinful by nature and by choice, and, apart from grace, incapable of returning to God.

We believe in the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death. We also believe that God’s plan for human sexuality is to be expressed only within the context of marriage, that God created man and woman as unique, biological persons made to complete each other. God instituted monogamous marriage between male and female as the foundation of the family and the basic structure of human society. For this reason, we believe that marriage is exclusively the union of one genetic male and one genetic female.

We believe the Scriptures teach that the salvation of sinners is initiated by a loving God, wholly of grace, and accomplished only through the mediating work of the Son of God. It is upon the sole condition of personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ that one is justified, in possession of a new nature, and eternally secure.

We believe that the Church is a spiritual fellowship, distinct from Israel, created by the Spirit and the Word of God, with the risen Christ as its Lord, composed of all true believers since Pentecost and expressed locally under male leadership in which each believer should be actively involved. A local church is an assembly of baptized believers associated by a commitment to the faith, fellowship, proclamation of the gospel, and the observation of the ordinances of believer’s baptism and the Lord’s Supper. The church is called to worship and serve God by loving him supremely and our fellow humans as ourselves, and, as an expression of that love, making disciples of all nations.

We believe in the imminent return of Christ to consummate God’s redemptive purposes through the resurrection of the dead at the end of this age, the final judgment, and the ultimate destinies of all people – the redeemed in the presence of God, and the unsaved to a state of eternal separation from him.
